Specifics of calculations and calculation of insulation thickness

Calculations of the thermal insulation of the pipeline are one of the most difficult design tasks. The current requirements for the timing and execution of the project do the calculation manually isolation for large projects is almost impossible. Even the use of albums of standard designs does not allow to fully ensure the required efficiency of work.

Our Company is ready to perform complex engineering calculations to determine the thickness of the insulating layer insulated pipelines and equipment using the “Isolation”, the high standards and accuracy of calculations which are certified according to current standards and are recommended for the use of RTN.

Program “Isolation” in automatic mode performs the calculation of heat insulation (thickness of the thermal layer) and all forms of insulation design, calculates and generates a common data sheet (statement of reference and accompanying documents), tekhnomontazh list, bill of quantities (for estimated) and specification.

The insulation calculation program is recommended for use in design bureaus and departments in the design and reconstruction of main and process pipelines and heating networks, equipment in the oil refining, chemical, petrochemical, gas, oil, heat and power and other industries that calculate and select the thermal insulation of pipelines and equipment.

CALCULATION OF THERMAL INSULATION FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF OBJECTS: ​

● Pipelines, including straight sections, bends, junctions, fittings and flanged connections;
● Double-pipe pipelines (channel and non-channel), including heating systems;  
● Various types of equipment, both standard (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.), and complex composite devices, including various types of shells, bottoms, fittings, hatches and flanged connections.

The initial data for calculating the insulation of the pipeline are: the type and size of the insulated object, its temperature and location; other data are set by default and can be changed by the user. The geometric dimensions of the insulation is calculated depending on the purpose of insulation, the type of the insulated object, the thickness of the thermal layer, the temperature of the product, environmental parameters, characteristics of the insulation material, given its seal.

СП 61.13330.2012 (updated version СНиП 41-03-2003);
СНиП 2.04.14-88;
НР 34-70-118-87 (For nuclear and thermal stations);
ТКП 45-4.02-91-2009 (norms of the Republic of Belarus).

AFTER CALCULATING THE THERMAL INSULATION, THE PROGRAM PRINTS OUT VARIOUS TYPES OF OUTPUT DOCUMENTS: ​

General data sheet;
Technical installation report for the construction division;
 Statement of work volumes for the budget department;
Specification to the material support department according to GOST 21.405-93, GOST 21.110-95 and GOST 21.101-97.

TASKS THAT THE ISOLATION PROGRAM SOLVES:

● Optimal choice of thermal insulation structures and materials;
● Calculation of the minimum required thickness of the thermal insulation layer (for the case of one or two materials in the thermal insulation layer);
● Selection of product sizes;
● Calculation of the scope of work and the total amount of materials;
● Release of project documentation.

The program calculates isolation for different types of objects:

● Pipelines laid on the ground and laid in the ground (channel and non-channel), including straight sections, bends, transitions, fittings and flanged connections;
● Double-pipe pipelines (channel and non-channel), including heating systems;
● Various types of equipment – both standard (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.), and complex composite devices, including various types of shells, bottoms, fittings, hatches and flanged connections;
● The presence of heating satellites and electric heating is taken into account.

The geometric dimensions of the thermal insulation are calculated depending on the purpose of the insulation, the type of object to be insulated, its size, the temperature of the product, the environmental parameters, the characteristics of the insulation material, taking into account its compaction.
